I CAN TRACE YOUR SCOTTISH ROOTS AND FIND YOUR SCOTTISH ANCESTORS

Do you want to find out about your Scottish ancestors, where they came from and what they did for a living?  Do you want to learn more about your Scottish heritage?  You may have discovered some old photographs which have made you wonder about your Scottish roots.

Genealogy has become increasingly popular.

You can feel confident in using my services as a professional Scottish genealogist to assist you with tracing your Scottish family tree.  As a member of ASGRA I have proven my competency by completing tests to ensure that I am proficient in all aspects of genealogy.

For clients who may be unsure if their roots lie in Scotland, I will undertake to carry out a free preliminary search.  I will then advise if tracing your family tree in Scotland will be a worthwhile investment.

SCOTTISH FAMILY TREES AND SCOTTISH FAMILY HISTORY RESEARCH

I am based near Edinburgh and provide a professional and friendly service. I am a council member and accredited researcher of the Association of Scottish Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (ASGRA), which guarantees a professional service and adherence to a strict Code of Practice.

I am a West Lothian Family History Society Committe Member, where I am the research co-ordinator.  I assist at family history roadshows which are held locally and have helped many beginners to find their way round the records held both at New Register House and locally at Connelly House at Blackburn.  It is a privilege to help and encourage individuals to learn the process of tracing their own family trees.  I also write articles for The Oak Tree - our society journal.

I have compiled the material for classes in "Tracing Your Scottish Family Tree" and have taught beginners at these classes which were held locally.

I am a member of the Scottish Genealogical Soceity and, as such, have access to their many resources.

I have also undertaken a great many commissions to trace Scottish family roots and produce personal family histories for clients at home and abroad.  I am proud and delighted that a great number of my clients have stated that they look on their family history pack as a treasured family heirloom which can be passed from generation to generation.  Many satisfied clients have given the ultimate complement of returning to have other branches of their family traced.

I am often asked to complete research for clients who have an interest in specific aspects of their Scottish family history and need some professional assistance.  This could be something as simple as trying to find out where the family silver came from! I have assisted with such requests.

It may be that a client has come upon a "brick wall" in his own research and therefore requires additional guidance.  This is a common occurrence for many people and it may be that one particular area is hindering process in going back in time.  I will try to assist.

Using my experience I will research your Scottish family tree to create an interesting and unusual presentation package, or a standard report.  Previous clients have commissioned a family history for retirement presents, anniversaries, special birthdays or for their own pleasure and information.

For those interested in Homecoming Scotland 2009 you may wish to have your ancestry traced prior to arriving in Scotland.  This would be particularly useful if you planned to visit any of the places mentioned in your personal family history.  It is all very well having the names and dates of births, deaths and marriages of your ancestors, but I believe that a description of the locations where your family lived completes the overall picture.  I can also try to locate any living relatives as an additional service.

I am a professional Scottish genealogist and specialise in uncovering your Scottish roots and Scottish descendants.

I look forward to creating your very own Scottish family history.
